HDFC Starts Charging For InstaAlert service with SMS

April 1 onwards every customers who are registered for receiving InstaAlerts on mobile phone in the form of SMS will be charged a fee. Currently it is fixed
as Rs. 15/- per quarter for both Current Account and Salary/Savings Account effectively from 1st April onwards. The important point to remember is the regular SMS alert for any Debit/Credit Card Transaction alerts are not the part of InstaAlert service provided and is not chargeable. Customers who have not registered for InstaAlert service do not need to worry about the new decision by HDFC bank. It is because they are going to get the SMS alert for credit and debit transactions without any charges. If they started charging for any debit or credit card transactions, it would affect most of the ordinary customers. Anyway now it seems Banks are going to charge for service which they offered freely at the time of introducing them.
