Innovative New Playground Designs

Innovative playgrounds are specifically designed to promote children's learning, physical and social development. But even an innovative playground that offers a high level of safety wouldn't be the same if it didn't incorporate all of the elements that make going to the playground fun.

Examples of Play Equipment That Help Develop Motor Skills

Imagine being a child stepping onto the new playground built in Horsens, Denmark for the first time. Excitement to try out every piece of equipment and then moving onto something else would probably follow. By far, the large COROCORD net located at this playground is the most popular meeting place for children to do multiple exercises and have fun at the same time. Other favorite piece of equipments are the traditional swings and swinging nests which allows close interaction among a group of friends.

New York’s First Interactive Electronic Playground

Badly needing a safer playground for neighborhood children to go to, a partnership between Tiki Recreation (children's program formed by American football star Tiki Barber), Related Affordable and KOMPAN Inc., USA, was formed to build an eco-friendly play setting made from recyclable materials using sustainable practices for Plaza tenants' children to enjoy.

PlayGround Expansion Completed at Reculver Primary School in the UK

The staff and students at Reculver Primary School in the UK wanted to expand their original playground that would encourage high activity levels in a safe outdoor play environment and meet the special needs of children who were visually and/or hearing impaired. This particular consideration ensured that no child with a disability felt left out when playing with their classmates. The new playground was also designed to handle greater amount of play in various types of weather, PE delivery and the creation of multiple skills long term. In fact, the new resource play area has offered more active playtime for students and the school's objective to provide five hours of high quality PE activity everyday.

In spite of various challenges, a Nike and KOMPAN collaboration was able to fulfill the city council's and the people living in this neighbourhood's expectations by providing a new play area designed for young and older people that centers around motion.
