Types of Offset Printing Processes & Their Components

Printing blankets are a part of the offset printing process. In the offset printing process, the image which is to be printed is sent from metallic plate to a blanket made up of rubber. This image is then transferred to the actual printing surface. This process can also be used along with the lithographic process. The lithographic process is based on repulsion between water and oil. In this process of the offset printing, there are two parts, the printing and non-printing area. In the printing area, the image collects colour or ink from the rollers that supply ink and in the non-printing areas are kept free from ink.

Modern printing process

The pre-press production is an important process in the entire production system. This process is necessary as it plans all the files, and ensures that all files are present in proper order for printing. Plates are created and the files finalized in this process. Some of the most common things for which this process of printing is used are magazines, newspapers, brochures, and books. Clean images can be sued when the proper offset printing supplies are used.

These images are clean and clear and thus sharp images are obtained. This is due to the reason that printing blankets adapt to the texture of the surface. The printing plates can be obtained easily without much effort. The printing plate does not come into direct contact with the printing surface which is why the life of the printing plate is long. The chances of wear and tear are very less.

Dampening system

A layer of moisture is placed on the areas where the image is not to be printed. This ensures that the image will not form on these parts and will stick to the parts where it is supposed to be formed. The plate is regularly moisturised from time to time so that the non-image part remains moisturized. These systems are made up of the components water fountain, water fountain roller, water distribution roller, water form roller and water ductor roller. These are just some of the parts necessary to this process. There are four different types of dampening systems, the direct, indirect, intermittent flow and continuous flow. In each of these systems the way the water is transferred varies.

Inking system

The inking system is responsible for ensuring that a uniform layer of ink is applied across the plate. In the lithographic system, the ink is expected to not stick to the nominated areas while it is being transferred from the rollers. The quality of the printing press can be determined by the number of rollers being used. It is also determined by the way in which the rollers are used. It is necessary to maintain the consistency of ink on the plate only over the image part. The non-image part does not require the ink to be applied to it.

Offset printing supplies include some components that are listed below:
  1. Ink ductor roller
  2. Ink fountain
  3. Ink fountain roller
  4. Ink form roller
  5. Ink distribution roller
Thus, the above content provides information on all types of offset press process and its components.

The Concepts of Social Networking in Today's World

In today’s high tech world, networking occurs as much on computers as in “real life” social situations. Social media has opened up a vast new frontier for people to connect with others. Before the advent of social media, people generally networked at social gatherings like mixers, fundraising galas and similar events. Of course, such “face-to-face” networking is still important and common, but social media allows possibilities that did not exist before. One of the problems with older networking models is that often the same people showed up at all the events. The percentage of the population that is active in community events tends to be rather low. On the other hand, almost everyone these days uses social media. Vast reach of social networking According to the latest stats, Facebook alone has more than 900 million active users worldwide with the number continuing to grow. Twitter and Google+ also have large numbers of active users that cross all demographic categories. ...
