Two of The Best Parodied Mac Commercials of All Time

They say you’ll be able to measure your fame when people start imitating you or making a fool out of you.

Let’s take Justin Bieber for example. Bieber, a Canadian teen star made famous by Usher and YouTube, has been mocked and targeted by Internet critics and bloggers all over the world. He’s been victimized everywhere, from YouTube (where millions of parody videos of his music videos are uploaded and viewed every day), to television (with shows like South Park and Saturday Night Live among others), to online blogs and forum sites (where you can find thousands of posters and photos about him). Everyone has something bad to say about Justin Bieber and I’d rather be selling laptops online than counting off all the “Bieber is gay” posters on Google images. But despite all the mockery, Bieber even takes the time to thank everyone for making him more famous by saying: “So I wake up today to almost 15 million on Facebook, over a billion views on YouTube and 6 million of the greatest fans on Earth on Twitter!”

So if Justin Bieber, at a very young age, gets this huge attention from a very condemning crowd, why wouldn’t Apple have it too? Apparently, the biggest tech company in the world has been so mocked by every self-righteous Alpha Geek in the world that it’s starting to flood the net with parody blogs and videos passed off as tech news. One of these is about selling used laptops to get a Mac laptop (the ‘Get
a Mac’ ads featuring Justin Long of He’s Just Not That Into You). Here are the best of the ad parodies about the Mac laptops.

The ‘Get a Mac’ Ads

Probably the most famous Mac laptops and computers commercial that Apple has ever released is the ‘Get a Mac’ ad campaign. Remember the “Hi, I’m a Mac! Hi, I’m a PC!” commercials that symbolically tell you to say: “I want to sell my laptop coz it’s a Windows”? It lasted for four years (from 2006 to 2009), has released 66 commercials all in all, went viral and was released in three different countries (North America, United Kingdom and Japan). Actually, the 66 ads were only the North American versions of it. There are 16 Flash ads exclusively for website campaign, 15 for the U.K. versions and 12 for the Japan versions and 4 other ads made exclusively for Steve Jobs’ keynote speeches. The result? An overflowing amount of parodies from, not only PC and Mac users, but also from various respectable (read: respectable) institutions such as T-Mobile USA (versus AT&T), Marvel comics (versus DC comics), the Canadian Liberal party (versus the Progressive Conservative party), and Nintendo’s Wii game console (versus Sony’s PSP). The best one perhaps is Novell’s PC versus Mac versus Linux ad parodies.

The MacBook Air Ads

Who says only YouTubers get to do parodies of Mac’s laptop? Even competitor laptops are leveraging their marketing efforts by making a fool out of the MacBook Air. Lenovo, for instance, slammed Mac’s MacBook Air ‘manila envelope’ commercial by recreating the scene where a hand opens an envelope and out comes a very thin MacBook (that fits the envelope like a paper). What would make you trade in laptop for cash in the ad parody is when the hand adds an external optical drive, lots of USB slots and other peripherals that are not included in the MacBook Air and tries to push all of it in the envelope (which ruins the paper envelope). Then the hand opens another manila envelope and out comes the Lenovo X300 (which is also very thin and fits the envelope perfectly, like paper) and it simply boots the laptop implying that the real ‘ultra-thin’ laptop is the Lenovo!

Apple is certainly a valuable brand, and their products, valuable too. The amount of attention it gets is one reason it gets these parodies. I bet more will come in the future!

How To Maximize Real Time Communications

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and the primary rate interface (PRI) services that come with the infrastructure have given offices many different options when it comes to real time digital communications. Some of the features of these services can be integrated into an office so that problems are more quickly solved and communications become more efficient and cost-effective. These ways to maximize real time communications in the office can rely on intrinsic features of the technology or they can involve carefully chosen suites of applications that work together. Session initiation protocol (SIP) forking is a feature of many business VoIP services . SIP forking allows a single digital channel to be forwarded to multiple destinations. This can be used to send a call from a single phone to multiple other devices. If an employee is not at a particular station to answer a phone, then the signal can be forked to a cell phone or another location until the employee receives the call. Th...

HTC EVO 3D Confirmed for UK Release

This is a guest post by Simon about EVO 3D from HTC, which is now coming to Europe in July HTC's 3D phone, the EVO 3D, has now been confirmed as heading to UK markets. Although the phone has been known about for some time there was some uncertainty about which markets it would be released in. As the EVO 3D takes a lot of inspiration from the earlier US-only HTC EVO there was some speculation that it would also be bound solely for the United States. The HTC EVO 3D is similar in many respects to the Sensation. There is a similar specs list for hardware although the EVO 3D will feature a parallax barrier display like the ones found on the LG Optimus 3D and the Nintendo 3DS. After LG's device this will be the second 3D smartphone released to many markets although the EVO 3D is much more tantalising in what it has to offer. Like the Sensation the EVO 3D will come with a qHD display and dual core 1.2GHz chip, making it more visually appealing and powerful than the only oth...

How mobile monitoring apps are changing the spy world?

Parents always expect the best out of their children, and so does the employers from their employees. For instance, parents buy their kids a smartphone, and expect them to do well in their academics. Similarly, an employer issues smartphones to their employees to ensure that they excel at work, and contribute towards maximizing profits in the business. However, when expectations are not met, or if you sense that there is something inappropriate concerned to their activities or behavior, then the need to monitor their cell phones arises. In addition, if you suspect that your spouse is giving your share of time and attention to another person, you are certainly left with no option but to monitor their activities. Role of Mobile Monitoring Apps The best method to monitor on someone is through mobile monitoring applications. These apps make your task of monitoring simpler like never before.
