Everything You Need To Know About Cleaning Roof Shingles

Keeping your home clean is important. It doesn't just make your space look better - it also benefits the health and safety of the people living in it. It is not just your carpets and countertops that need to be cleaned, though. Your roof shingles also need attention. If left uncleaned for long periods of time, the shingles can become covered in dirt, moss, and even mold. This can weaken the strength of your roofing materials, causing your roofing system to be vulnerable to extreme weather conditions. Never cleaned your roof shingles before? Don't know where to start? That's okay! This is everything you need to know about keeping your shingles clean.

There is always a risk that your shingles will develop mold or moss. Not to mention all of the dust, dirt, and other contaminants that can build up on the roofing materials over time. Despite this, many homeowners don't give much thought to cleaning shingles. There are many benefits to shingle cleaning, however. So, it may be time to add it to your home maintenance to-do list. By removing potentially dangerous build up, you can extend the lifespan of your shingles and keep your roofing system working as effectively as possible. Not to mention the fact that clean shingles add to the curb appeal and design aesthetic of your home. How can you achieve clean shingles that look like new? You need a few essential items.

Grab a bucket of hot water, bleach, and detergent. Mix well and pour the solution into a garden sprayer. This is your cleaning solution. Then scope out the areas of your roof that need your attention. Carefully get up on a ladder (or stay on ground level if the solution will reach the affected areas) and spray until the shingles are completely coated. Leave the solution on the shingles for ten to fifteen minutes. After that, you can use a cloth to remove any of the built up materials. Spray the area with water and leave it to dry. You may need to perform this step once more in the case of mold or moss growth. It all depends on the severity of the problem. That's it! That is all it takes to clean your roof shingles. Since the process is so straightforward, it is the perfect do it yourself task. Done correctly, it can save you money and improve the strength of your roof.

Before you run out and start cleaning your shingles, wait. Certain times of year are better than others to perform this task. You generally want to avoid roofing jobs during the winter. This is because the surface of your roof tends to be slippery and icy. Instead, opt for a day that is slightly cool and a little bit overcast. A cloudy day in the fall or spring is ideal. With the sun covered up, your cleaning solution won't dry too quickly. That will give it more time to soak the shingles - and remove all of those contaminants.

Have you cleaned your roofing shingles lately? It may be time to add it to your list of home maintenance tasks. It isn't complicated to do, won't take long, and can make a noticeable difference to the look and lifespan of your roof. Make a change.... and put your roofing system first.

The Concepts of Social Networking in Today's World

In today’s high tech world, networking occurs as much on computers as in “real life” social situations. Social media has opened up a vast new frontier for people to connect with others. Before the advent of social media, people generally networked at social gatherings like mixers, fundraising galas and similar events. Of course, such “face-to-face” networking is still important and common, but social media allows possibilities that did not exist before. One of the problems with older networking models is that often the same people showed up at all the events. The percentage of the population that is active in community events tends to be rather low. On the other hand, almost everyone these days uses social media. Vast reach of social networking According to the latest stats, Facebook alone has more than 900 million active users worldwide with the number continuing to grow. Twitter and Google+ also have large numbers of active users that cross all demographic categories. ...
