Easy and Efficient Ways to Save Energy

We often take things that come easily to us for granted. We assume that it has always been there and it will always be there, no matter how much we misuse it. Take energy and electricity for example. Most of us do not come from a scenario where we had to ever worry about electricity not being in our life. The very fact that you are reading this article can prove that you are privileged; if you are reading it from your swanky phone or tablet on the go shows even further that you belong to the lucky fortunate bunch of people who do not have to worry about living with candles and lanterns after sundown. In all likelihood, we end up using candles and lanterns to enhance the decor of our home.

So it is time to take responsibility and conserve energy, and guess what? Your small contribution will go a long way. Here are some tips that you can easily follow and incorporate in your daily life:

  1. Buy energy saving fans. They don’t cost much at all and will keep you cool and happy even during hot summer months. You can buy one that is noise free, attractive looking and compact sized, to make sure that it goes with the rest of the theme of your home.

  2. Keeping your windows open and letting the energy efficient fan run on a high speed will ensure that you get some fresh air from outside, while still conserving energy and reducing your electricity bill.

  3. Making sure to put the fans, lights, chargers and all other plug points off when you leave the room is a great way t conserve energy. Sometimes we go from the living room into the kitchen or bedroom and we think that we will be back in the living room in no time. Hence we may leave the gadgets, fans A/C and even TV on. At some point, we may get occupied with something in another room and completely forget about the electricity bill shooting up because of your forgetfulness. Make it a habit to switch everything off, when you leave the room; even if it is for five minutes.

  4. Do not leave your cell phones, laptops and other gadgets on charge through the night while you are snoozing. To improve the life of your gadgets, charge them only when the battery almost drained out and put it off as soon as it is fully charged. This way, the gadgets will emit less heat.

  5. Energy saving cfl lights and lamps is another great way to reduce your outgo in the form of electricity bill and conserve energy at the same time. Dimming the lights not only creates ambient mood lighting but also makes your home more energy efficient.

  6. Reduce air conditioning usage and get more of air coolers, ceiling fans, floor fans and table fans. They will all enhance the decor of your dwelling and make you a responsible individual conserving energy.

Every little step, every small effort and every action taken in the right direction makes a difference. Using things wisely (which we didn’t have to create) is important to make sure that the environment is protected and so is your paycheque.
