What Makes the Xperia Arc so Attractive?

This is a guest post by Simon about the reasons for which Xperia Arc is very Attractive.
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Arc is the first thing Sony has done in the mobile market for a long time that deserves applause. So why is the Arc so good? Let's check out our five favorite things about Sony’s device.

Attractive

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is an attractive device. We’re not saying that Sony has produced ugly phones before, but this one is a wonderful marriage of beauty and functionality. The Arc has an arced shape that feels great and looks nicely individual. Its large 4.2in screen, thin bezel and diminutive 8.7mm width all add to it being a lovely phone to look at and to hold. It’s a breath of fresh air in a market surrounded by black rectangular, minimalist lumps of mass.

Engine

We’re talking about two different engines here. The Arc uses a 1GHz single core that reminds us that the one core phone still has its place in today's market. It’s fast and responsive and deals well with most things thrown at it. This is accompanied by 512MB of RAM and the excellent BRAVIA engine. The BRAVIA engine ensures the smooth running of the devices screen and motions look slick and fast on the display. It is the same technology used in Sony’s TVs and provides a superb picture quality with videos and images.

Screen

As we’ve just mentioned the BRAVIA motion engine, we couldn’t scrimp on talking about the display. It is a 480x854 screen that is something similar to the Super AMOLED Plus of the Galaxy S II in terms of quality. It’s bright and images and text look very appealing on it and gleam for the naked eye. Its 4.2in size and the BRAVIA motion engine make watching footage a dream, and it also performs better than the Galaxy in sunlight.

Camera

Sony Ericsson Eperia could not be reviewed without a mention of the excellent 8.1mp camera that it has. The Exmor R sensor has been taken from Sony’s compacts and added to the device to ensure it has a camera worthy of most compacts. Sony has really pushed the boat out here and it is up there with the Nokia N8’s 12mp in terms of quality. The device also records 1080p videos, however it is let down by the fact it has no front VGA.

Operating system

Aside from the dodgy Timescape social network software Sony has done a great job with the Arc’s OS. Android 2.3 has really helped Sony jump right in with the big boys HTC and Samsung and this phone really offers a lovely, bright and quick experience for the user.

The Xperia Arc is one of the finest phones that Sony Ericsson has released in the last few years and is the perfect blend of form and function, with the latest Android features and one of the most unique, ergonomic and visually appealing physical designs currently on the market.
