A Peek at the Google Music Beta Install Process

This is a guest post by Nadia Jones.

Those of you in the United States might have noticed that Google Music Beta has started to get some buzz on the internet. Invites have gone out wave after wave, and as one of the people to get an early look at the application, I have to say that it's definitely worth your time to get in on this as soon as possible. I've used it for a few days and can say that it's greatly simplified my music experience. I no longer have to worry about which songs are on my work computer or home computer, nor do I have to carry around my iPod and my Android, as I can access my Google music on the phone as well.

Perhaps the greatest thing about Google Music Beta is that the install process hardly takes any time at all, which is what we've come to expect from the people at Google.

Once you get the invite in your email, click on the link and Google will take you through a series of installation steps: you will electronically accept some terms, install the Music Manager program, and then upload your music. After that, you're ready to listen.

Music beta Google terms of service

After you agree to the terms and to another privacy agreement, you'll be asked to select want kind of free songs you'd like. This is a great little feature that allows you to sample new music in these genres so you can decide if you want to purchase the entire album.

How to add free songs to music library

After you select the music you want, you will be prompted to download the Music Manager installer, which will run on your computer and install the Manager that you'll need to be able to access Google Music Beta.

After the installer runs, you'll sign in with your Google username and password, and then you'll be prompted to upload songs from one of the media players that the program will detect on your computer.

Select music

If you have a lot of music, this uploading process can take a long time. I don't have too much music, so it took me about five minutes, but a friend of mine had to leave the application running all evening in order to get his entire huge music library uploaded. Just be aware that the upload process can take quite some time.

But, don't worry, it's well worth the wait, as once everything is ready, you'll be able to access the Google Music Beta dashboard, which is incredibly intuitive and easy to use.

How to add music

And there you go! All of your music is at your fingertips; you can access your music from up to eight devices, including Android phones. If you haven't requested an invite, do so now!

The Concepts of Social Networking in Today's World

In today’s high tech world, networking occurs as much on computers as in “real life” social situations. Social media has opened up a vast new frontier for people to connect with others. Before the advent of social media, people generally networked at social gatherings like mixers, fundraising galas and similar events. Of course, such “face-to-face” networking is still important and common, but social media allows possibilities that did not exist before. One of the problems with older networking models is that often the same people showed up at all the events. The percentage of the population that is active in community events tends to be rather low. On the other hand, almost everyone these days uses social media. Vast reach of social networking According to the latest stats, Facebook alone has more than 900 million active users worldwide with the number continuing to grow. Twitter and Google+ also have large numbers of active users that cross all demographic categories. ...
