Avoiding Surprise Charges With Moving Companies

The stress levels that come with moving is comparable to a holiday shopping spree or even wedding planning. One such source of stress in moving is the handling of the moving companies.By clearing everything up with your mover of choice, you're effectively saving yourself from a lot of stress. To do so, you'll need to start by looking at different moving companies.

First off, you'll need to know whether the mover is licensed or not. Mind you that non-licensed movers doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't work with them. It's just that licensed companies are just the better choice if you want quality. For instance, if you're moving from state to state, a non-licensed moving company can't help you. For a local transfer, they may be the more economical choice. At any rate, licensed movers are more likely to be able to insure your items.

As far as the rates go, they will usually either be by hour or by total weight of the items you're transporting. If you called a moving company and they gave you an estimate, take that estimate to heart but insist on sending a person over to do another. By showing the transportable goods, the mover can better determine how much the cost is going to be. Once they've given you an estimate, they usually will carry those items and weigh them. They can then give you another estimate, which you can compare to the previous one they gave you. This way, you're sure you're not duped.

Another thing to clear up is the services that they provide and what they cover. For instance, if a mover lists fright charges in their brochures, it doesn't necessarily mean they do cross-country moves.

There are a ton of other charges that you may incur. For instance, breaking down furniture and reconstructing them at a new home will have extra charges. Some companies will also have you pay a percentage of gas that was used to transport your belongings.

If your new home is inaccessible by their trucks, there will be extra charges. If there's considerable distance where your belongings need to be hand-carried up to your home, there will be extra charges. If you live in a building where your room isn't on the ground floor, there will be extra charges. It's best to lay everything on the table so you and your mover can work something out.

Finally, there may be a few things that the mover can tell you. For instance, if you're looking for a phone provider near your place, the mover may actually point you to the best direction. This goes the same for any utility or service for your new home. You never know if the mover you've hired also works with certain providers and arrange a quote or connection for you.

The most important thing during a move is your presence. To avoid any accidents and being ninja'd by mover employees, simply be there during the move. Don't sleep through the whole trip. Make sure everything's in order. It's your valuables, after all.

The Concepts of Social Networking in Today's World

In today’s high tech world, networking occurs as much on computers as in “real life” social situations. Social media has opened up a vast new frontier for people to connect with others. Before the advent of social media, people generally networked at social gatherings like mixers, fundraising galas and similar events. Of course, such “face-to-face” networking is still important and common, but social media allows possibilities that did not exist before. One of the problems with older networking models is that often the same people showed up at all the events. The percentage of the population that is active in community events tends to be rather low. On the other hand, almost everyone these days uses social media. Twitter and Google+ also have large numbers of active users that cross all demographic categories. ...
